Introduction

Hello! My name is Jess Johnston and I am from Appleton, Wisconsin. I am currently a sophomore at Lawrence University and plan to major in studio art. Right now I work at the Warch Campus Center Information Desk and on tech crew. Some of my favorite things to do are watch horror movies, play video games, draw, and spend time with my friends.

I have been drawing and painting since I was around 10 years old and have hoped since then that I would be able to pursue my passion for art. I mostly like to draw and paint portraits of people, but I also like to do landscapes occasionally. Along with majoring in studio art, I would also like to get my teaching license and hopefully one day be able to be an art teacher or professor.

I am excited to take New Media in Art because I normally just use very traditional ways to create art like graphite and paint. I hope that I will be able to learn new ways of artistic expression in this class because I think it is important to broaden your abilities by learning new skills. I usually don’t think too much about associating art with computers, but in the past few years I have noticed that digital art and computers in general have expanded abilities of artists.
